EXPO-GREEN ripped off in May 2020 and aims to contribute to the assessment of occupational exposure to microorganisms from the workers of the waste management industry.
The Lisbon Health Technology School of the Polytechnic of Lisbon-(ESTeSL-IPL) and the National Institute of Occupational Health of Norway (STAMI) collaborate on a bilateral initiative, funded by the EEA Grants, designated by "Exposition to microbiological agents and health effects of waste industry workers-EXPO-Green".
The initiative, submitted by ESTeSL-IPL researcher and lecturer Carla Viegas, contemplates various activities such as harvesting environmental samples in the waste management industry in Portugal and Norway, the comparison of data between the samples from the two countries, the sharing of knowledge and the presentation of study results.
The results of the project will be a contribution to support future regulatory measures, which aim to minimise occupational exposure and consequently prevent occupational diseases.
Within the framework of the Project, two seminars were promoted, one in Portugal and one in Norway, in May 2022, with the aim of giving to know the expected goals and results, as well as the development of new collaborative research projects.
